(NEW YORK) _ Vega Records unveils a well-crafted remix package in sync with the cover of the Donna Summer classic, Love to Love You Baby, by Anane featuring legendary fashion impresario Roberto Cavalli. Take a trailblazing journey with the likes of heavyweights Sebastien Grand, Todd Terry, DJ Spinna, Will Reelsoul Rodriguez and Louie Vega at the helm. The spellbinding pairing of Anane and Cavalli on vocal hooks fits like a charm on each remastered version of the 17-minute song often credited with launching the disco era.
“It was after attending Roberto Cavalli’s fashion show in Milan that Louie and I were having dinner with Roberto that I suggested he should record his voice because it was just absolutely amazing … deep, full and rich with an amazing Italian accent,” Anane explains. “He quickly volunteered and said he’d call us when in New York.”
Anane, firmly established as a versatile singer/songwriter, producer, independent label owner and DJ, stays on top of her game traveling abroad and across the U.S. with a message of peace, love and empowerment of women. Through diverse musical selections, she often incorporates memorable solo performances during high-octane DJ sets driving crowds wild. The sublime interpretation of Love to Love You Baby illustrates her creative edge in the studio. “A few months later the phone call came in, an exchange of addresses were made and next thing we knew Roberto Cavalli was at our front door ready to record,” Anane recalls vividly. “Dim lights, imported Italian red wine and his signature cigar, Roberto was in our studio recording … talking, expressing his feelings about love, surreal but amazing. Louie and I just glanced at each other smiling ear to ear.”
The original mix, released in 2010 on Nervous Records, quickly left an impression on clubbers worldwide. Following up with this remix package, the Louie Vega Funky House Remix of Love to Love You Baby wastes no time getting down to business with a nu-disco sound and complex, rhythmic chords used poetically throughout the piece. The funk-driven, provocative beat immediately turns up the heat.
“I’m honored and thrilled of not only being the first and only artist to have recorded with Roberto Cavalli, but also have the opportunity to pay tribute to the iconic Donna Summer,” Anane says. “What I had envisioned along with Louie’s idea for a remaking Love To Love You Baby was a reminiscing of Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot, it sounded perfect.”
Louie Vega’s soul-stirring Radio Edit keeps things grooving while channeling the golden era of 1970s club anthems, applying rich bass and elemental keys. French sound designer and producer Sebastien Grand does double duty with his revision of the seductive Anane track. Grand’s Main Mix offers a snazzy drum session running rampant throughout it, while featuring bumping bass lines and intoxicating keyboard play at crucial breaks. He also masterminds a tribal dance floor gem with the Voodoo Mix, igniting an uncontrollable desire to move all night.
House music innovator DJ Todd Terry steps in to apply his signature touch, giving Euro-progressive treatment with looping and filtering to the mesmerizing disco classic. As expected, the combination works well with a hypnotic loop of Anane lyrically enticing listeners. Rounding out the remix collection, DJ Spinna and Will Reelsoul Rodriguez join forces to produce a fully loaded track showcasing a deep, soulful edge. The Main mix builds upon layers of atmospheric melodies and big sound. Electronic keyboard riffs on the Dub version present a touch of the legendary Giorgio Moroder flavor, the visionary who originally produced Love to Love You Baby with Pete Bellotte.
